The key as a parent is spotting when your little cherub genuinely likes something and has an interest in it or when they are just saying it because a kid from school has one or they caught a glimpse of a fancy social media ad that prompted them to pipe up without any substance to their new-found clamouring. If they have a dinosaur backpack then maybe get a bedspread to match?
The Answer To Unpredictability
The lack of clarity and the potential for children to change minds more than their socks can leave parents undecided on whether to commit to a certain theme or particular colour. If a couple who are expecting a baby and do not want to find out the sex until giving birth then the tendency is to decorate and prepare the babies room/nursery in neutral colours and plain decor until they know if they are having a boy or a girl. This can be repeated whatever age the child is until you are 100% sure of what they want will last longer than 6 months.
Swap What You Can, Where you can
Having a neutral base allows you to experiment with accessories like bedding, curtains, backdrop event drapes, clocks, picture frames and canvases to bring life to the room. These can be themed around what you think your infant likes, and if you get it wrong or their fascination alters to something else the next month you have the ability to re-start and swap the little things around rather than completely redecorate.
The point is that children are extremely unpredictable and as soon as you think you have them sussed and their situation all under control, they switch it up and frustratingly keep you guessing. So how on earth do you keep their room to their taste and find the fine balance between cool dinosaur bedding and tacky nursery rhyme wallpaper? Interchangeable themed items not themed decor.

Keep things simple, try not to get carried away until you get the full approval of the child then by all means spoil them and make it fun for them too.
