The free people of the United States of America are seeking a Chief Executive to fulfill the Office of President. The eligibility requirements are described in the U.S. Constitution, Section 1 – Article II.
The duties and responsibilities will include some of the following:
The power to make treaties – subject to the confirmation of the Senate.
The power to appoint Ambassadors, judges of the Supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States…And an obligation to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed”.
Section 2 adds: “The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the militia of the several states, when called into the actual service of the United States.”
The American voting public often looks to former Presidents for the characteristics they hope to find in the candidates for the nation’s highest office. Here are a few sample model patterns to consider:
George Washington is the example of self- restraining executive power. Washington voluntarily stepped down from the Presidency after two terms. His name became synonymous with the virtue of the office. However, few know that he admonished those who would crown him King.
May 1782, George Washington received a letter from Colonel Lewis Nicola proposing that the General should use the army to make himself king of the United States. You can practically hear the stern tone in his response.
Washington replied immediately: “…you could not have found a person to whom your schemes are more disagreeable. Let me conjure you then, if you have any regard for your country –concern for your posterity – or respect for me, to banish these thoughts from your mind.”
King George had said that if Washington voluntarily gave up power, then he “truly would be the greatest man on Earth.” Neither Oliver Cromwell nor Napoleon had done it, but Washington did. He may have had a kingdom by his whim. Instead, he put his country before himself. [Bennet/Crib; The American Patriot’s Almanac]
The youngest president in history was a cowboy, naturalist, author, Rough Rider, and adventurer. Theodore Roosevelt exemplified thoughtful action, boldness, and intrepidity. He was an unapologetic American patriot. He embodied the vigor of American exceptionalism.
September 1901, Theodore Roosevelt at 43 was the youngest person to assume the office after an assassin’s bullet killed President McKinley. Roosevelt summed up his approach to life and governance by saying;
“It is not the critic who counts: not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles or where the doer of deeds could have done better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs and comes up short again and again, because there is no effort without error or shortcoming, but who knows the great enthusiasm, the great devotions, who spends himself for a worthy cause; who, at the best, knows, in the end, the triumph of high achievement, and who, at the worst, if he fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat.”
Ronald Wilson Reagan was the oldest President elected to office at the age of 69.
The Cold War raged on between the United States – NATO and Soviet Union -Warsaw Pact nations since the end of World War 2.
The two superpowers faced off with literally thousands of Inter-Continental Ballistic Missiles aimed at each other, holding entire population centers hostage with multiple nuclear warheads ready to rain down on them at a moments notice. This was the greatest danger to human civilization on a global scale in the history of mankind. Reagan’s foreign policy for ending the Cold War was simple. He said; “We win, they lose.”
Reagan succeeded former President James Earl Carter, who presided over long gas lines at the fuel pump, due to supply shortages and skyrocketing oil prices because of his ineptness to negotiate firmly with OPEC. On Christmas day 1979, while toasting to peace with the Soviet Ambassador at the White House, he was surprised to learn a few minutes later that the Soviet’s had just invaded Afghanistan with crack commando troops arriving on commercial airlines.
Carter also decided to abandon a strong U.S. ally and shoved the Shah of Iran to the fall, which precipitated 54 American diplomat hostages being held for 444 days. The U.S. Economy suffered stagnation and the national mood was in a state of dark morose.
President Reagan embodied the optimistic – leader President. He said; “America’s best days are ahead of us.” Under Reagan’s leadership, the world was pulled back from the precipice of possible nuclear annihilation. The Soviet Union negotiated with Reagan and both sides dismantled thousands of ICBMs. The American hostages in Iran were released before Reagan would complete reciting the oath of office. The U.S. economy surged through two Reagan terms, the George H.W. Bush Administration and flourished well into the William Jefferson Clinton Administration.
Reagan said: “We will always remember. We will always be proud. We will always be prepared, so we will always be free.”
President Barack Hussein Obama expressed his idea of executive governance when he said: “We will fundamentally change America.” He will be remembered in his first term as the “apologist” President.
President Obama made it a policy issue to apologize to the Muslim monarchies, Muslim Theocracies, and Muslim countries he visited. In Egypt, his policy to overthrow longtime ally President Mubarak permitted the take over by the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist group.
He traded top Islamist terrorist Al-Qaeda leaders in an excuse to release them from GITMO in exchange for a US deserter that was suspected of collaborating with the enemy in Afghanistan. Obama’s Syrian policy nourished the terrorist enemy called “ISIS” and the consequential humanitarian disaster left in their wake is part of his legacy.
President Obama crafted the centralized government takeover of the entire health care industry, which continues to crush small, doctor owned, medical practices around the country and is driving insurance cost skyward.
Race relations in the U.S. plummeted under Obama’s political exploitive direction. Street riots were instigated from his pulpit expressions of blanket disdain and disrespect directed at law enforcement officers.
Obama told the world; “The [Boston area] Police acted stupidly..” Since that scornful statement, multiple Law Enforcement Officers have been gunned down in the line of duty. It is alleged that the Obama White House had not sent a representative to pay respects at any of these fallen law enforcement officer funerals.
It is also reported by the Obama White House that Islamist terrorist attacks against U.S. Military personnel on U.S. soil are considered “workplace violence or a federal crime” and not an act of terrorist warfare. This is the rationale why U.S. flags are not ordered to half-staff to mourn the fallen.
“What difference does it make…” was the official response from Obama’s Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, during her sworn testimony to Congress investigating the murders of an American Ambassador and four American security contractors killed in Libya, while on U.S. diplomatic soil in the city of Benghazi. That categorical statement in her sworn testimony was the beginning of her screeching tirade when her unwavering public position stating a YOUTUBE Video instigated that attack was irrefutably disproven. During the course of cross examination by Senator Rand Paul, the former Secretary of State testified that she did had no idea what the Ambassador was doing in Benghazi and why extra security was denied to him on September 11th, 2012.
Among his contemporaries, President Obama embodies the “Saturday Night Live” plastic mold image of a modern hipster that is aloof and detached from responsibility because blame for every problem belongs to anyone else except himself. He will be analyzed as governing by the politics of petulance and crafting policies fuming with capriciousness. President Obama’s model may be that of the squandering President because he was handed every advantage.
President Obama squandered international goodwill, national treasure and precious American blood to “fundamentally change” a free market economy that contrary to his discourse, was built by a free and industrious people, to create personal prosperity for themselves and succeeding generations.
NOW HIRING: An American President that is not seeking to dismantle America, a President who will abide by the spirit and word enshrined in the Bill of Rights and U.S. Constitution, a President capable of authoritative self-restraint and possessed of a genuine sense of honor, a President who fundamentally believes the individual is sovereign over America’s government.
