The Truth About Hily: Separating Facts from Fiction

Many people are wary of using dating apps, and they probably should be. There are bots, some users ghost after matching, and most apps seem like games rather than opportunities to connect. This is why when I heard about Hily dating app for the first time, I was curious (and, to be honest, cautious).

Hily, short for Hey, I Like You, made an impression at first glance. It did not promise that I would find a soul mate within 24 hours. Rather, the app makes you feel like you should date as you are, and not try to be perfect. I was curious, and like many other people, I wondered, “Is Hily a scam?” But having spent a little bit of time using the app, I can say Hily is a breath of fresh air.

What Makes Hily Feel Different

To begin with, the app does not ask you to pretend about anything. Hily allows you to create a profile that depicts who you are, whether through Spotify anthems and career ambitions, down to personal quirks and dating preferences. One of my favorite ones was the compatibility quiz. It’s light-hearted and yet tells you a lot. I swiped on one person who hated fitness, and that helped us to get the conversation started in a fun way.

Then there are the ice-breaker prompts. These are lifesavers, to be honest. People don’t talk enough about how awkward it can be to start a chat with a stranger, even if it’s just online. But the Hily app has made that easy. I didn’t need to spend time thinking about a funny or slick way to break the ice. Hily gave me humorous prompts that made the process so much smoother. And they have an extra special set of prompts made in collaboration with a comedian, and a seemingly good one as they’re actually funny!

Interestingly, one of the prompts led to an argument over whether or not you should have pineapple on pizza, resulting in us having a pizza date to settle the score.

Overall, what I like best about dating on Hily is that there is no pressure. I didn’t have to overthink my profile like I’m applying for a job or try to be someone’s ideal partner. Instead, I focused on being myself and enjoying meeting new people. And I think that is what people are seeking in 2025, connection, not a fake performance.

So… Is Hily Fake?

The world of online dating is full of red flags and fake profiles. However, Hily has a lot in place to avert these risks. It has photo verification and a support team that responds to your queries.

As with any dating app, you’ll run into the occasional fake profile or bot. But all you need to do is flag it and let the team at Hily handle it. They’re pretty proactive about reducing the number of scam and bot accounts so that you can match with more real people.

Is Hily Legit? My Final Thoughts

At first, I had my doubts about Hily dating. But the app proved that being true to yourself and connecting genuinely based on the things that matter is achievable when dating online. You just need a dating app that supports real connection, and that’s what Hily does.
