Putin and Yakunovych hold a meeting in Sochi

The Russian and Ukrainian presidents have held a meeting in Sochi and talk about the increasing economic hardship in Ukraine, where pro-European protesters have occupied for more than two weeks the center of Kiev.

Russian President, Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych also spoke about the integration of Ukraine into the European Union offered by Jose Manuel Barroso the head of the European Commission.

Putin has also taken special interested in The U.S. financial strategy to help Ukraine if negotiations with EU, go forward.

Although the meeting, held on Friday evening  has not been confirmed , some of the topics were not discussed .

The  part of the meeting opening of the Olympic Games in Sochi , is the first interview that remains after the economic boost that brought Russia to Ukraine , which made ​​clear the pro-Russian orientation of this former Soviet republic after the suspension by the Government of an association agreement with the European Union.

Yanukovych returned to Ukraine filtered without any of the issues addressed in the interview. The country is mired in a political crisis for the past two months , and is on the verge of bankruptcy , pending a receipt of a new Russian rescue plan , currently suspended .

“They’ve spoken on the stage. And has not been an official bilateral meeting , it was not foreseen in the program with Yanukovych in Sochi ,” stated a spokesman for the Ukrainian presidency. This same laconic information was likewise offered by Putin’s spokesman , Dmitri Peskov .
