If you are new to anime Naruto is a really good place to start. That does not mean seasoned anime lovers would not be impressed by the story this anime tells.
Today, we are going to talk you through 6 reasons why you should start watching (or rewatching) Naruto this weekend.
#1 – It’s Based On Amazing Source Materials
If you don’t know anything about manga then here is a quick guide to the provenance of Naruto Shippuden.
In the late 90s and early 00s, there were two huge manga that were battling for the top spot on the bestseller list – One Punch Man and Naruto.
The first volume was published in 1999 in Japan (and a few years later across the rest of the world). There were 73 volumes of the manga and the final volume came out in 2014.
It became a best-selling series across the world.
#2 – It Sticks To The Source Material
There are some anime that get made too quickly and overtake the manga that it was based on – they eventually fall apart when they have to write their own plotlines. We’re looking at you Full Metal Alchemist…
Of course, this happens in Western shows too. We’re looking at you Game of Thrones…
Naruto doesn’t have this problem.
Not only is it based on an incredible anime, but it sticks to the stories created by this manga. It knows where it’s going and it finishes all its storylines.
#3 – It’s Finished
In today’s binge-watching culture, many people are put off by watching a show that isn’t finished.
We understand that. What happens if it has a bad ending? Or even worse, what if it gets canceled before it’s finished and you never find out what happens?
You don’t have to worry about that with Naruto – not only is it finished but it has a universally beloved ending that left fans with happy tears in their eyes.
Naruto does an amazing job at tying up all the loose ends and making sure that all the characters have an interesting ending.
#4 – It Has 21 Seasons
Okay, we understand the idea of 21 series and over 500 episodes can seem really overwhelming.
But anyone who has finished this show will tell you that they wish it was twice as long.
Some anime are far too short, if anything, Naruto Shippuden isn’t long enough. That’s not to say that it doesn’t have a good ending or that it feels too rushed. It’s just so good that we never wanted it to end.
Unlike some other long-running anime (Pokemon… One Piece…) Naruto may be long but it moves with purpose. It tells a story.
#5 – It Has An Incredible Cast Of Characters
So why is Naruto so popular?
Well, we believe that one of the things responsible for its huge popularity across the world is its cast of characters.
The good characters are lovable. The bad guys are loathsome. There are people who sit in the middle.
Some shows can go too far down the morally grey route, to the point where all the characters feel half-baked and unlikable. It can be hard to route for and get attached to characters like this.
Naruto gives you characters you can love, hate, and can’t predict. The balance of this throughout the series is perfection.
#6 – It Is Endlessly Rewatchable
Some shows you can only watch once.
This might be because they rely too much on twists to keep the audience interested or because the ending is too bleak. Sometimes, shows just aren’t interesting enough to warrant a rewatch.
Naruto is something that we will never get tired of rewatching.
The journey Naruto goes through in this series is one of the best character arcs on TV. The foreshadowing on this show is flawless. And the boss battles are so well animated that you will want to watch them time and time again.
